The City of Fort Wayne will be engaging in a massive construction project to handle sewage that might otherwise flow into our rivers. Read more about it in this interesting article by Dan Stockman of the Journal Gazette. The project will help bring Fort Wayne into compliance with the Clean Water Act and perhaps lead us back to being able to swim and fish safely again in our rivers.

Indiana Healthy Rivers Initiative Continues to Expand
The Healthy Rivers Initiative (HRI) began acquiring land for conservation purposes in 2010. Recently, close to 500 acres along the Muscatatuck River were added to the Austin Bottoms Conservation Area.

State water plan changes on the horizon?
Much of what the state knows about its water availability is decades old. Hydrogeologist Jack Wittman is spearheading a project investigating Indiana’s current water supplies and usage. The project may result in policy aimed at protecting the state’s water resources for improved sustainability. Check out the full story.
