Spring 2020 Event Updates

In accordance with decisions by the University and CDC recommendations regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), the ERC’s annual Earth Day celebration – Conservation Conversation unfortunately, will be postponed until further notice. As are many of the spring events we were planning and looking forward to:

Sustainability Steward Internship Established

Richard and Marni Waterfield have sponsored an endowment that will support a student internship at the ERC. Participants will receive a financial award that would be used to support research or community engagement projects through the ERC that relate to the development of sustainable approaches to human impacts on the environment. Awardees would also have access to space and resources within the ERC, and be invited to participate in a community devoted to the study of the environment, nature and sustainability, including engaging with the ERC director and a faculty mentor. Our thanks to the Waterfields!

Thank you!

To those of you who have contributed to our annual fund-raising campaign this month, I thank you. We will use those funds to help fulfill our mission, “to promote the understanding and conservation of the natural resources of the region through scientific research, educational opportunities and outreach.”

Did you think you might donate, but didn’t quite get to it? There is still time to get tax benefits for this year! Let me make it really easy. Click on this link and with a credit card you can be done in three minutes:

Remember that contributions to the ERC have an added tax benefit for Indiana residents – along with the usual tax benefits for charitable giving on federal returns, Indiana tax payers are eligible for a 50% tax credit for gifts up to $400 on joint returns or $200 on individual returns. Awesome.

Happy new year!
